How Scoring Works

Scoring Guidelines

Points are awarded per match based on how close your predicted scoreline is to the final result.

Rules of play

Deadlines & pick lock

Enter or change a pick any time right up until that match's kickoff. You can amend a saved pick as many times as you like before then.

Each match locks individually at its own kickoff — there's no single deadline for the round. Once a match starts, its pick is frozen and can't be edited.

A warning appears in the final minute before kickoff, then the inputs lock automatically the moment the match begins. A pick you save at 6:57pm for a 7:00pm kickoff counts; one you try to change at 7:01pm does not.

All kickoff times are shown in your local timezone — the deadline is whatever the clock says where you are.

No pick saved by kickoff counts as a missed pick (an invalid pick, 0 points). Once entered, a pick can be amended but never deleted.

Live scoring

During matches the leaderboard refreshes about every minute as live scores come in.

While a match is in play, your points for it are provisional and can change — a late goal can flip the result. Points become final once the match ends.

Knockout stages

In the knockout stages, if a match is level after 90 minutes it goes to extra time — your pick is scored on the score at the end of extra time, not the 90-minute score.

Penalty shootouts don't count toward the final score. A match decided on penalties is scored as the tied result it finished on after extra time.

Leaderboard & ties

Players are ranked by total points. Ties break in order by: most perfect (4-pt) picks, then most 2-pt picks, then most 1-pt picks, then fewest invalid picks.

Scoring

Points per prediction

4 pts

Exact scoreline prediction (e.g., you predict 2-1 and the actual score is 2-1).

2 pts

Correct result + correct score for the winning team (e.g., you predict 3-1, actual is 2-1).

1 pt

Correct result, but neither team's score is exact (e.g., you predict 5-0, actual is 3-2).

0 pts

Incorrect result or invalid pick.
Note: Predictions of 1-0 or 0-1 are considered invalid unless the actual score is also exactly 1-0 or 0-1 — in which case 4 points are awarded.

Examples

Actual Score Your Prediction Points Reason
2 – 1 2 – 1 4 Perfect pick
2 – 1 3 – 1 2 Correct result, and one score is exact (the away team's here)
3 – 2 2 – 3 0 Incorrect result, and neither score is exact
0 – 1 1 – 0 0 Invalid pick — a 1-0 prediction counts as invalid unless it's an exact match
3 – 1 0 – 1 0 Invalid pick — a 0-1 prediction counts as invalid unless it's an exact match
1 – 0 1 – 0 4 Valid 1-0 pick (exact match)
1 – 1 2 – 2 1 Correct result (draw), but no exact scores
